A few guidelines for writing your inspiring story

We Wave creates community and what better way than to share our stories. (It’s what humans have been doing since before there were words!)

If you’ve overcome fear or anxiety, challenged yourself to accomplish more than you thought possible, or faced adversity and kicked its ass — we want to hear about it. What makes an inspiring We Wave story? Consider these three elements:

  • The challenge: Where did you begin? What pushed you to the edge? What obstacle did you think you couldn’t overcome? What was your weakness? What was your biggest fear? In every aspect of life, we face challenges —large and small. Why did you take on the challenge? What did you hope to learn or achieve? (Word count should be between 800-1200 words.)

  • How you faced the challenge: Describe in detail how it felt to meet the experience head-on. How did it feel emotionally, physically, and/or spiritually? Did you want to give up along the way? What or who encouraged you to keep going? Did anything happen that was unexpected? Did your challenge change as you progressed? What was the most difficult moment?

  • Lessons learned and moving forward. What happened after your challenge was met? Was your life transformed? What unexpected lesson did you learn? Where are you headed next?
